Ainsworth set for Scotland debut

The 22-year-old – who featured at scrum-half for Scotland U21 earlier this year – has been an ever-present for the Warriors since their inaugural Celtic Challenge campaign, making 27 consecutive appearances in the competition since Glasgow’s first-ever match in December 2023.

Ainsworth is one of six Warriors selected by interim Head Coach Dave Butcher, who takes charge of Scotland for the first time in this weekend’s meeting with the 2025 Rugby World Cup runners-up.

Elliann Clarke starts at tight-head, having started in all five of Scotland’s matches in the 2026 Guinness Six Nations.

Her younger sister Rhea will make her first start for Scotland at scrum-half, with all four of her previous appearances having been made off the bench.

Up front, Becky Boyd starts at number eight, following her late addition to the squad at the end of last week.

Anne Young is named amongst the front-row replacements, the Helensburgh native returning to a Scotland matchday 23 for the first time since joining her girlhood club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Aicha Sutcliffe completes the Glasgow contingent selected by Butcher, following an impressive debut campaign in the Guinness Six Nations.

Scotland take on Canada in Edinburgh this Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 4.10pm at Hive Stadium.
