Ben Afshar's displays for Scotland U20 and in the FOSROC Super Series earned the scrum-half a partnership contract with Glasgow Warriors ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The former Edinburgh Accie made his professional debut for Glasgow Warriors off the bench in front of a sold-out Scotstoun, coming on for the final five minutes in a 33-20 win over Ulster to replace club coach Sean Kennedy at scrum-half.
His first try in Glasgow colours came in February 2024, marking his first start for the club by running in the bonus-point try in a 40-7 win over the Dragons at Scotstoun.
He had previously been a part of the FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy at Scotstoun, whilst the scrum-half had also been coached by future Glasgow team-mate Jamie Dobie whilst at Merchiston Castle.
Afshar co-captained Scotland U20 at the 2023 World Rugby U20 Trophy in Kenya, having previously impressed in the number nine shirt in the 2023 U20 Six Nations.
He helped Stirling Wolves to lift the 2023 FOSROC Super Series title, playing a key role in the Bridgehaugh outfit’s run through the playoffs.
