Second-rower Alex Samuel was one of the 15 players confirmed as part of the 2020/21 intake for the Glasgow FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy, before signing a professional contract with the club ahead of 2022/23.
He immediately impressed coaches and team-mates with his physicality and work-rate, with then-Glasgow Head Coach Danny Wilson name-checking both Samuel and Max Williamson as ones to watch in an online supporters event in late 2020.
A powerful ball-carrier and set-piece caller, he was invited to train with the senior Scotland squad during the 2021 Guinness Six Nations.
Samuel played under Glasgow assistant coach Pete Horne at Ayrshire Bulls during the FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series.
He made his professional debut in a 37-0 victory over Benetton in November 2022, starting in the second-row at Scotstoun.
