Steyn voted One Four Nine Wealth Men’s Warrior of the Month for May

The club captain was the clear winner in a four-man shortlist that also featured Rory Darge, Stafford McDowall and Patrick Schickerling, following a month that saw Glasgow Warriors secure victories over Cardiff and Ulster to finish top of the BKT United Rugby Championship table, before booking their place in the Semi-Finals with a 33-21 Quarter Final victory over Connacht at Scotstoun.

Steyn was influential throughout the month, scoring in the victory over Cardiff before producing a Player of the Match-winning display against Connacht.

The winger crossed for two tries in the Quarter Final victory making him the leading try-scorer in play-off matches in Glasgow Warriors history.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for me, it’s always special to receive recognition from our supporters,” Steyn said.

“The other nominees were outstanding as well and it’s a privilege to play alongside players like Rory, Stafford and Patrick every week. and any one of them could easily have won this award.

“The atmosphere at Scotstoun for the Connacht game was incredible and to be able to put in a performance like that in front of our supporters was really special.”
