Shortlist named for McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for March

2 Apr 2025

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Franco Smith has nominated four players in the running to be named McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for March, after a month that saw his side strengthen their hopes of a playoff berth in the BKT United Rugby Championship.

A last-gasp defeat to the Ospreys in their opening match of the month was followed by a hard-earned victory over Munster, on a night that saw the Warriors celebrate their 2015 title-winning squad in front of a sold-out Scotstoun.

Smith’s men then closed out the month in resounding fashion on Plaster It Purple night, running in six tries to claim a 42-0 win over the Emirates Lions, all while raising over £20,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Supporters can vote for their winner until 3pm on Saturday 5 April by heading to the club’s official Twitter channel.

The nominees are:

Nathan McBeth

March proved to be a landmark month for loose-head McBeth, as the prop wrote his own chapter in the Glasgow Warriors history books.

By scoring in each of Glasgow’s three matches in March – in addition to touching don against the Dragons in the club’s sole match in February -, the Scotland international became the first prop in club history to score in four successive fixtures.

The prop also enjoyed a standout month at the set-piece, making an impact at the scrum to help his side push for a playoff place.

Duncan Weir

The experienced head of Weir was to the fore throughout March both on and off the field, as the fly-half continued to turn in a series of consistently high-level performances.

Standing in as captain against the Ospreys, the Cambuslang RFC product came within seconds of guiding his team to victory, nervelessly slotting a touchline conversion of McBeth’s try to edge his team in front in the 79th minute.

Weir was then to the fore in defence against Munster at Scotstoun, whilst also offering valuable contributions around the training field in the lead-up to Saturday’s victory over the Emirates Lions.

Euan Ferrie

Back-rower Ferrie was in the thick of the action throughout March, turning in three all-action displays in the back-row for Smith’s side.

The man from East Kilbride extended his lead as the club’s top tackler in the BKT URC this season, with no Warrior having made more than Ferrie’s tally of 131 in 2024/25 to date.

Ferrie also sits joint-top of the charts for lineout steals made by a Glasgow Warrior this season, one of those steals coming against the Ospreys at the start of March.

Jack Mann

Mann continued his strong run of form in 2024/25 across the month of March, playing a prominent role in Glasgow’s opening two matches of the three back-to-back home ties.

The back-rower opened Glasgow’s account at home to the Ospreys, touching down for his first try at Scotstoun in the Origin Round encounter.

Mann then led the charge in victory over Munster, making 22 tackles and winning two turnovers – both more than any other Warrior.
