PROFILE

His first try for the club came in October 2015, with the prop scoring in a 29-15 win over the Dragons at Scotstoun.

Since then, he has pushed on and become a near ever-present in the matchday squad for Glasgow, developing into one of the premier tight-heads in the northern hemisphere.

The prop was a key member of the Warriors squad that reached back-to-back Guinness PRO14 semi-finals in 2017/18 and 2018/19, also playing in the Final at Celtic Park in the latter campaign.

His importance to the pack was further underlined in the 2019/20 campaign, playing all bar six minutes across six matches in December 2019 and January 2020.

Fagerson reached a century of Glasgow Warriors appearances in May 2021, leading the team out in a 29-19 victory over Edinburgh at Scotstoun.

He then became only the 15th player in Glasgow Warriors history to reach 150 appearances for the club, achieving the milestone in the opening round of the 2024/25 BKT URC campaign.

The prop’s consistent excellence for club and country deservedly saw him named in the 2021 British and Irish Lions squad to tour South Africa, with Head Coach Warren Gatland selecting Fagerson as one of his three tight-heads in the 37-man touring party.

Fagerson achieved a remarkable feat in the 2023/24 BKT URC playoffs, playing all 240 minutes in the knockouts to help his team to an historic title win sealed with victory over the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria in the Grand Final.

He was invited to train with the Scotland squad for the 2015 Six Nations by Vern Cotter, before being called up for the first time to the Scotland squad in January 2016.

Fagerson made his international debut against England in the 2016 Six Nations, before – alongside brother Matt – becoming part of the 48th set of brothers to represent Scotland in 2018.

The tight-head represented his country at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, scoring his first international try against the hosts in the final pool match.

He is a product of the High School of Dundee, and represented the school at U16, where he helped them win the Brewin Dolphin Plate before moving to Strathallan.

His impressive rugby credentials were further enhanced by selection for Caledonia at U16 and U18, while the powerful prop has also represented his country at the same age groups.

Outside of rugby, Fagerson won the 2010 Scottish Downhill Mountain Bike Championship.
