PROFILE

Comfortable on the wing or in midfield, he made the move to Scotstoun after his second stint with the Japanese outfit concluded at the end of the 2021 Top League campaign.

A dynamic presence with ball in hand, the former Melbourne Rebel made history in 2016 when he became the first homegrown player to represent the franchise in Super Rugby.

In total, Tuipulotu made 11 appearances for the Rebels, also impressing for Melbourne Rising with 12 tries in 32 appearances in the NRC.

He was part of the Australia squad for the World Rugby U20 Championships in 2015, 2016 and 2017, scoring a brace against a Scotland side containing future team-mates Scott Cummings and Zander Fagerson in the 2016 tournament.

Tuipulotu was named in the Scotland squad for the 2021 summer tour, qualifying courtesy of Greenock-born grandmother Jaqueline Thomson.

He made his Scotland debut in October 2021, starting at outside centre in the Autumn Nations Series match against Tonga at BT Murrayfield.

He made his club debut against Ulster in the opening match of the 2021/22 season – setting up a try for George Horne – before crossing for his first try in Glasgow colours away to Zebre Parma in October 2021.

After becoming an integral player for both club and country, Tuipulotu was named Scotland captain for the 2024 Autumn Nations Series.

The centre was voted as the 2024/25 Denholm Energy Services Players’ Player of the Season, his team-mates recognising his impact on and off the field.

His status as one of the premier midfielders in the northern hemisphere was confirmed by his selection for the 2025 British & Irish Lions tour of Australia, with Tuipulotu scoring the opening try in the first Test victory over the hosts.
