Scottish qualified tighthead Fin Richardson signs for Glasgow
Glasgow Warriors have further bolstered their front row options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, after it was announced that Scottish-qualified prop Fin Richardson will make the move to Scotstoun from Exeter Chiefs.
Alongside fellow Scotsman Rory Sutherland, Richardson will add to the recent versatile signings in the front row.
Joining the Warriors after a dual stint at Exeter Chiefs and Cornish Pirates, Fin will be returning to Scotland to pursue both BKT URC and international ambitions.
Richardson’s career started playing rugby at Cargilfield Prep School in Edinburgh. Fin next attended nearby Merchiston Castle School, which since 1966 has produced 64 full international players.
As well as playing in BUCS Super Rugby as a student at the University of Exeter where he helped his team obtain the championship title in a close final against Durham University in 2022, Richardson has represented Scotland on the international stage. The tighthead prop has represented Scotland’s U20s in both the Six Nations and World Championship Competitions.
“I’m really excited to be heading home to Scotland and am especially looking forward to working under Franco Smith and learning from the likes of Al Dickinson,” Fin said.
“The team are flying this year; I can’t wait to be a part of what comes next.
“I have a lot to thank Exeter for and I’m so grateful for the time I’ve had with the Chiefs, Cornish Pirates and Exeter University. However, the time is right for me to return home and build on my ambitions for international rugby. There’s a huge opportunity for young tight heads and coming to Glasgow is going to give me the best possible chance.”
Head Coach Franco Smith is delighted to welcome Fin to Glasgow.
“We’re pleased to welcome Fin to the club as we continue to build towards next season,” Frano said.
“He is a young prop with good potential, and we know he is keen to learn and develop.
“We look forward to working with him and helping him become the best version of himself both on and off the field.”
