Four players are in the running to be named as McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for February, as Glasgow Warriors returned to BKT United Rugby Championship action in winning style.

Franco Smith’s squad picked up all five points in a 40-7 triumph over the Dragons at Scotstoun, with the club also celebrating the grassroots game on Club of Origin night at the home of the Warriors.

With just the one game across February, performances in training and around Scotstoun were also taken into consideration prior to nominations being confirmed.

Supporters can vote for their chosen winner until 5pm on Friday 1 March by making their choice on the club’s official Twitter channel.

The nominees are:

Max Williamson

Nominated for the second successive month, second-rower Williamson continued to impress in Glasgow colours during the month of February, the 21-year-old resuming a partnership with Alex Samuel in the engine room that dated back to their Scotland U20 days.

The Stirling County product made his first BKT URC start in the victory over the Dragons, playing the full 80 minutes and turning in a dynamic performance from the second-row.

Williamson’s efforts also saw him invited to train with the senior Scotland squad ahead of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations, linking up with Gregor Townsend’s playing group at the start of the month in preparation for the tournament.

Euan Ferrie

Winner of the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award back in September, East Kilbride alumnus Ferrie was another to catch the eye both in match action and in training at Scotstoun.

The back-rower’s all-action display against the Dragons saw him put himself about under the Saturday night lights, providing a menace to the Welsh squad in both attack and defence.

Like Williamson, Ferrie was invited to train with Townsend’s Scotland setup ahead of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations, joining the squad ahead of the clashes with Wales and France at the start of the competition.

Thomas Gordon

Openside flanker Gordon was a perpetual thorn in the side of the Dragons in front of the Warrior Nation, the former Currie man a proving himself to be an asset on both sides of the ball for Smith’s squad.

The Rotorua-born back-rower made more offloads than any other Warrior in the 40-7 victory, whilst also jointly-topping the charts with a 100% tackle success rate.

Starting in the back-row for the visit of the Dragons was Gordon’s first appearance at Scotstoun since November’s victory over Benetton, having last come off the bench against Edinburgh at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.

Tom Jordan

Nominated after a strong month in competitive action and in training, former Ayrshire Bull Jordan impressed on his first start in the midfield in 2023/24.

Partnering captain Stafford McDowall in the centres, Jordan’s physicality in defence saw him named as KubeNet Defender of the Week following a robust display.

His distribution also played a key role in attack, putting Ben Afshar over for his first score in Glasgow colours following a perfectly-timed line break.
