The Scotland internationals will help send tens of thousands of runners on their way at Sunday’s AJ Bell Great Scottish Run, which sees participants take on the famous 10k and Half Marathon routes through the heart of Glasgow.
Horne and McDowall will be part of a fantastic line-up of special guests across the weekend, joining Eilish McColgan and Craig Ferguson, who will be setting runners on their way earlier in the day.
Their involvement comes as Glasgow Warriors strengthen their connection with this year’s event both on and off the course. Head Coach Franco Smith will be among the thousands of runners taking part on Sunday, raising funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, alongside a group of Glasgow Warriors staff who are taking on the challenge themselves.
For Smith, the event provides an opportunity to support a cause which is close to the Warriors and the wider Glasgow community:
“It’s a privilege to be able to represent Glasgow Warriors and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity at the Great Scottish Run,”
“The work the charity does for children and families across Glasgow is incredibly important, and the Fighting for our Families campaign gives everyone connected with the club an opportunity to play their part.”
“I’m looking forward to getting out there with my colleagues, representing the Warriors and hopefully raising as much as we can for such a fantastic cause.”
With Glasgow Warriors at the heart of the city’s sporting community, their presence adds even more excitement to a weekend that will see runners of all ages and abilities come together for Scotland’s biggest running event.
The AJ Bell Great Scottish Run returns with a record-breaking field set to fill the streets of Glasgow for a celebration of sport, community and achievement. From first-time runners to seasoned athletes, participants will be cheered on by thousands of spectators as they take on one of the UK’s most iconic city centre races.
