Mann signs new contract with Glasgow Warriors

Jack Mann says he is excited for his first opportunity to run out in front of the Warrior Nation at Scotstoun, after the back-rower put pen to paper on a new contract with Glasgow Warriors.

The 24-year-old has agreed terms with Franco Smith’s squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, as the Lasswade product continues his return to play process following a leg fracture sustained earlier this year.

A former standout for Heriot’s in the FOSROC Super Series, Mann was initially invited to train with the Warriors at Scotstoun at the outset of the 2022/23 campaign.

He then made his professional debut for the club in last season’s memorable away victory over Bath at The Rec, lining up at number eight in the 22-19 win over the English outfit in the opening match of last season’s EPCR Challenge Cup run.

Mann has also represented Scotland U20 in his career to date, lining up alongside future Glasgow Warriors team-mates such as Murphy Walker, Ollie Smith, Angus Fraser and Rory Darge across the 2019 and 2020 U20 Six Nations campaigns.

The back-rower made 15 appearances for Heriot’s across three seasons of the FOSROC Super Series, helping the Goldenacre side to compete at the top end of the competition.

“It feels absolutely amazing – I’m buzzing to have signed for such a great club,” Mann told glasgowwarriors.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity and I’m really keen to keep building here at Scotstoun. The support I’ve had from everyone while I’ve been here is fantastic and we’ve got a really good group of boys that are all keen to drive each other forward.

“For the club to put their faith in me like this is massive, and I really want to reciprocate as much as I can. Whether that’s on the pitch or helping those selected be in the best possible position, I want to do everything I can for this club and this team.

“Having guys like ‘the young team’ – if we can still call ourselves that! – is also absolutely brilliant for me. To have a group of friends like that makes coming to work that much more enjoyable, and it’s just a great time to be a Glasgow Warrior.”

Head Coach Franco Smith added: “Jack is a player that we believe has a great deal of potential and we’re looking forward to working with him to continue his development.

“He has been unfortunate with his run of injuries, but every time he has worked hard and put 100% into his return to play process with our physios and S&C team.

“He is someone that will give everything to help his team-mates and he has all the attributes to help make him a real asset for this club.”
