Hastings to return to Glasgow Warriors

Adam Hastings says he is excited to run out in front of the Warrior Nation once more, after it was confirmed that the fly-half will return to Glasgow Warriors this summer to become the club’s latest new signing ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

07/09/18 GUINNESS PRO14 GLASGOW WARRIORS v MUNSTER (25-10) SCOTSTOUN STADIUM - GLASGOW Adam Hastings in action for Glasgow Warriors.

The 27-year-old will link up with Franco Smith’s squad following the conclusion of a three-season stint with Gloucester, having become a firm fan favourite with the Warrior Nation during his first spell at Scotstoun.

Having initially come through the academy system at Bath, Hastings arrived in Glasgow prior to the 2017/18 season, swiftly becoming an integral part of Dave Rennie’s playing group as the Warriors reached the Guinness PRO14 playoffs in his first season at Scotstoun.

Hastings would then take his game to the next level in the 2018/19 campaign, a series of impressive performances in the number 10 shirt earning him the Guinness PRO14 Young Player of the Season award in a season that saw the playmaker help his side to the 2019 Final at Celtic Park.

The fly-half made 53 appearances in Glasgow colours during four seasons at Scotstoun, his tally of 407 points seeing him sit just outside the club’s top-five all-time points scorers.

He has since gone on to record 326 points from his 39 Gloucester outings to date, the most recent of which saw Hastings start in January’s EPCR Challenge Cup victory over Castres at Kingsholm.

Hastings’s form in a Glasgow shirt also earned him national recognition during his time at Scotstoun, winning his first senior Scotland cap in the 48-10 win over Canada in Edmonton on the 2018 summer tour.

He has earned 27 caps for his country to date, including representing Scotland at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and scoring 26 of his side’s 61 points in victory over Russia in Shizuoka.

“I’m hugely excited to be coming back to Glasgow,” Hastings told glasgowwarriors.org

“I’ve got so many good memories of my time at Scotstoun from the first time around, and the club played a really important role in shaping me into the player I am today.

“I’ve kept in touch with a few of the boys that were here when I was last with Glasgow, and I’ll catch up with them whenever I’m in Scotland camp and so on. I’ve got a lot of good friends in the squad, so it should be a really smooth transition.

“There’s loads of depth in the back-line, and that’s really exciting for me. The brand of rugby that Franco has the team playing is exactly the kind of rugby I love to play, and I can’t wait to get out there and run about with the boys.

“I had a good chat with Franco and the coaches before signing, and I was really impressed with their vision for the club, from the culture off the field to the brand of rugby on the field. It’s a really exciting time to be a Glasgow Warrior.

“The more rugby you play, the more experience you get, and being able to have experienced the last three seasons at Gloucester I think has made me a more blended player and more mature player overall. I’d like to thank everyone at Gloucester, and I really want to wish them well.

“I can’t wait to get back to Scotstoun – there’s nothing quite like running out in front of the Warrior Nation on a Friday night, or on a big European night or playoff fixture, and I can’t wait to hear that roar again.”

Head Coach Smith added: “Adam’s addition to the squad continues to build our strength in depth ahead of next season.

“It’s great to welcome a former Warrior back into our environment, and his experience from other rugby environments will make him a real asset going forward.

“We’re looking forward to seeing how he can add value to our group as we develop as a squad.”
