Giving back to the community | Glasgow Warriors announce December initiatives
With community at the heart of everything that we do as a club, Glasgow Warriors is proud to be giving back to those most in-need this festive season.
Here are all the ways you can help us to inspire our community and make a real difference to the lives of others across not just Glasgow, but Scotland, this December.
Social Bite Festival of Kindness | Thursday 8 December
Having supported this summer’s Break the Cycle ride from Scotstoun to BT Murrayfield, Glasgow Warriors are once again proud to be joining up with Social Bite, supporting their mission to provide 300,000 meals, gifts, and essentials to people who are homeless and vulnerable this Christmas.
Part of the nationwide Festival of Kindness campaign, people are encouraged to donate gifts at the designated tree on Vinicombe Street – just off Byres Road -, with Social Bite then distributing these gifts to people experiencing homelessness across the country this Christmas.
Glasgow Warriors Managing Director Al Kellock joined Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn at the tree last Sunday to officially switch on the tree’s Christmas lights, whilst Glasgow Warriors players will be in attendance on Thursday 8 December to volunteer alongside the Social Bite team to accept your donations.
Supporters are encouraged to come down to say hello to the players and Social Bite volunteers, as well as bring gifts for under the tree or buy a homeless person Christmas Dinner.
Exact timings will be confirmed closer to the day, so keep an eye on the club’s social media for more information.

Glasgow Children’s Hospital visit
For the first time since December 2019, Glasgow Warriors will be visiting the patients and staff at Glasgow Children’s Hospital this Christmas, as we lend our support to our Official Charity Partner this festive season.
Founded in 2001, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has raised over £30 million for the hospital in the following two decades, ensuring that the tireless work of the staff to ensure their young patients continue to receive the highest standard of care.
An always-popular occasion for the players, the visit marks the latest milestone in a partnership that was recently renewed for a further two years, with the second annual Plaster It Purple fixture taking place when the Scarlets visit Scotstoun in April.

Food Bank Donation | Friday 16 December
In what is becoming a Scotstoun tradition, Glasgow Warriors will be encouraging the Warrior Nation to donate to those most in-need ahead of the EPCR Challenge Cup clash with Perpignan on Friday 16 December, as we collect food bank donations alongside Heart of Scotstoun.
Supporters will be encouraged to donate non-perishable items from 1pm outside the Stadium’s main entrance at Scotstoun ahead of kick-off, with all donations supporting Heart of Scotstoun’s drive this festive season.
The centre particularly welcomes donations of:
-
- Tins or packets of soup
- Toothpaste, deodorant, and shower gel.
- Rice, pasta, and noodles
- Tins of tuna
- Toilet rolls
Based on Balmoral Street just a 15-minute walk from the stadium, Heart of Scotstoun community centre welcomes over 1,000 visitors every week as they seek to reduce social isolation within the local community.

Christmas Jumpers | Friday 23 December
It’s one of the biggest nights of the season, and you can help us turn our 1872 Cup home clash with Edinburgh into a festive fortress this Christmas – all you have to do is look out your Christmas jumpers ahead of the match.
With the fixture on-track to be a sell-out, we’re encouraging the Warrior Nation to get in the Christmas spirit for a good cause as we once again support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity at what promises to be a firecracker of a fixture.
Simply look out your jumpers and look out for a charity volunteer on the night to donate!
Glasgow Warriors’ internal Clans will also be doing their bit over the festive season – look out for more information on our Clans in the coming weeks.
