Ferrie named as McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for September

Glasgow Warriors back-rower Euan Ferrie has been named as the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for September, with the 22-year-old taking home the trophy for the first time in his professional career.

With just one fixture – The Famous Grouse Pre-Season Friendly victory over Zebre Parma at Scotstoun – taking place in September, the monthly award has been decided by the club’s coaching team in order to also recognise the efforts of Ferrie throughout pre-season.

Ferrie’s exceptional attention to detail around all aspects of training has been highlighted by all coaches throughout feedback meetings across the course of the pre-season window, as well as the East Kilbride RFC product’s physical improvements and his standout attitude both on and off the field.

Having turned professional during the 2022/23 campaign, the former Scotland U20 standout made nine appearances during his debut campaign at Scotstoun, making his debut in a 37-0 home win over Benetton.

His first start came on the blindside flank during a 40-26 victory away to USA Perpignan, his all-action display earning plaudits from team-mates and spectators alike.

Ferrie also becomes the first Warrior of the Month winner to earn a donation for his chosen charity courtesy of McCrea Financial Services, with the East Kilbride native choosing Kilbryde Hospice as the beneficiary.

“I’m chuffed, aye!” Ferrie told glasgowwarriors.org.

“I didn’t really expect it to be honest – I just wanted to work hard, keep my head down and keep building towards the new season as best as I could. To be recognised by the coaches means a lot to me.

“This pre-season feels a wee bit different as it’s my first pre-season as a full professional, but I was in training with the pros last summer too so the changes are minimal to be honest. Everyone’s keen to help each other out and develop as much as we can, because that puts us in the best shape possible as a team.

“We’re in a good position ahead of the new season, we’ve had two solid hit-outs against Zebre and Ulster, and now everyone’s looking to put their hand up to take on Leinster.

“I’m also pleased to be able to do something for Kilbryde Hospice – they’re a charity that do a lot of work in East Kilbride, and I’m happy to be able to give back to my community wherever I can.”
