Dear Warrior Nation,

Whenever something special is achieved we must say thank you to those who have made it happen. The first thank you is to you, the Warrior Nation, for getting behind the move to Hampden. For turning up in such big numbers and bringing friends and family with you.

We’re ecstatic to have already sold almost four times the capacity of Scotstoun Stadium.

Not long after our title victory we sat as a group at Scotstoun to discuss how best to continue the momentum of that success. We first did this through our trophy tour. Visiting rugby clubs and schools across Scotland, giving thousands of rugby supporters the chance to share in this success. Our next step was to look at a suitable venue to host a bigger game than usual, giving our players the chance to be cheered on by thousands more Glasgow Warriors supporters. That brings us to this weekend.

Memories for a lifetime

Thanks to the 15 rugby clubs putting on buses and making the most of our group booking. There is nothing like getting your young teams along to enjoy the big-game atmosphere and to be inspired by their rugby heroes. These are memories that will last a lifetime.

Also, thank you to SP Energy Networks. For gifting six local schools 500 tickets.

Our players are extremely passionate about playing for all of the clubs and schools we represent.

On the park, sitting second in the league, and coming off the back of an intense and closely fought match with Toulon, our team have been working hard preparing for another epic encounter with Edinburgh. They are certainly up for the challenge. Also, it’s great seeing our club captain Kyle Steyn making his return from injury.

SKERRYVORE adding to the occasion

Off the field, having known Dan and Martin Gillespie from SKERRYVORE for almost 20 years, I’m delighted they are performing pre-match. Their performance will add another dimension to the whole occasion.

We are continuing our fundraising efforts for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, with a dedicated collection in memory of Siobhan Cattigan, for her family’s Legacy of Love fund.

There is going to plenty of opportunities for people to donate to the hospital on the day. Yet our ask to you all is to help us get as many ticket holders as possible donating at least £1. That small contribution can collectively make a massive impact for the patients and families in the hospital’s care this Christmas.

Thank you

I can’t tell you all how proud I am for this to be the biggest home match we have ever delivered. Credit to the squad, performance staff, and coaches for the impressive performances we’ve seen so far this year. And, credit to the hard work and determination of our operations, commercial, marketing, community, and communications teams for their efforts to make it a success.

Don’t forget there are still tickets left. Please do keep encouraging more of your friends and families to come along and enjoy the occasion.

I can’t wait to see you all at Hampden on Sunday! Thank you for your support and Merry Christmas when it comes.

Yours in rugby,

Al Kellock

Glasgow Warriors Manging Director
