Dream debut for boyhood Warrior Yule

As he stepped onto the pitch for his professional debut against the Hollywoodbets Sharks, the 20-year-old centre wasn’t just pulling on a jersey – he was stepping into a lifelong ambition.

“Pretty buzzing,” Yule admitted with a grin after the match, still soaking in the magnitude of it all.

“To win in front of a Scotstoun crowd like that has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It means everything to me to play here.”

“I wouldn’t have expected this coming into the season,” he said.

“Yeah, that was a long three years,” he recalled of his time in the age-grade ranks.

“We got a good couple of results along the way, but that was pretty good.”

“For me personally, it’s probably just a step up in physicality,” he reflected.

“Sharks are a pretty physical team, so it was a good learning experience for me.”

Whilst there were inevitably moments where Glasgow were forced onto the back foot, the young centre was quick to praise the collective resilience that carried them through.

“As a team, I think the positives from that is even when things don’t go out way, we stuck together,” he said.

“Even when we’re not in it, we still stuck together as a team and managed to win.”

“The boys have been great, helping me out – especially during the week as well,” he said. “Just giving me all the confidence and clarity. They’re amazing on the pitch as well, especially when things weren’t going our way. Everyone has each other’s backs.”

That sense of belonging and mutual trust has been a hallmark of Glasgow’s resurgence under head coach Franco Smith, and Yule’s seamless integration into the side speaks volumes about both his character and the environment around him.

When asked if he thought his debut would be against some of the Springboks, he shook his head, “No I couldn’t imagine that happening. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
