Former Warriors Set to Take on the Great Scottish Run in Support of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity

Glasgow Warriors centurion and current Scotland Assistant Coach Pete Horne will proudly represent the club this weekend at the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run, lining up on St Vincent Street alongside thousands of runners.

Pete will join more than 32,000 participants at Scotland’s biggest running weekend and is running in support of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, the clubs’ official charity partner.

Since its creation, the Fighting for our Families campaign has raised over £155,000 to help support young patients and their families.

Pete will be joined on the course by fellow former Warriors Colin Gregor and Calum Forrester, alongside members of the club’s staff.

The Warrior Nation can also head to Glasgow Green on Saturday for a packed programme of fun. Supporters can take part in a rugby passing challenge, meet players, and watch club mascot Clyde go head-to-head with Great Run mascot Tyney in their very own sprint showdown.

Reflecting on his involvement, Pete Horne said: “I’ve seen first-hand through my time at Glasgow Warriors just how much of a difference Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity makes to young patients and their families.

“The Fighting For Our Families campaign is something very close to my heart, and I’m proud to be taking on the Great Scottish Run this year to help raise funds and awareness.

“The Warrior Nation and the wider Scottish Rugby community have always rallied behind great causes, and I’m hoping as many people as possible will join me in supporting this one.”
