Glasgow Warriors to host Leicester Tigers in Investec Champions Cup Round of 16
Glasgow Warriors will welcome two-time European champions Leicester Tigers to Scotstoun in the last-16 of the Investec Champions Cup, after the draw for the knockout stages was confirmed by EPCR.
The tie will be played on the weekend of 4/5/6 April, with exact dates and kick-off times to be confirmed in due course by the competition organisers.
It will be a first meeting between the two sides since the 2016/17 campaign, the Warriors doing the double over the English outfit in the pool stages en route to a first-ever quarter-final in the Investec Champions Cup.
The match will also mark the first time in the club’s history that Scotstoun will host a knockout tie in the top tier of European competition, following on from 2022/23’s EPCR Challenge Cup knockout run.
Speaking following the draw, Head Coach Franco Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: “Leicester are a top-class outfit with some quality players, who have played some great rugby in the Investec Champions Cup so far.
“They will be a real challenge, and their result today is far from a true reflection of who they are as a group.
We’re excited to have an Investec Champions Cup knockout tie at Scotstoun for the first time ever. It’s a huge opportunity for us to take another step up, and we want to produce the best performance we can.
“Anyone can beat anyone in Europe this year and we look forward to the challenge that lies ahead.”
💫 Join us back under the lights as we take on Connacht on Friday 24 January, kick-off 7.35pm!
