Six Warriors set for Twickenham run-out
Six Glasgow Warriors are set to be involved in this Sunday’s clash between the Barbarians and the World XV at Twickenham, following confirmation of the two squads earlier today.
A Eddie Jones-coached Barbarians outfit will take on a World XV squad led by Steve Hansen at the home of English rugby this weekend, with some of the world’s biggest names set to run out for the respective teams.
Three Warriors will take to the field for the world’s oldest invitational squad after being selected for the Barbarians, with Argentinian international Enrique Pieretto starting at tight-head for the men in black and white having recently made his comeback from a lengthy injury lay-off by running out for Ayrshire Bulls in the FOSROC Super Series Sprint.
Sione Vailanu lines up on the bench for the Barbarians, after an outstanding debut campaign at Scotstoun that saw the Tongan nominated for the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Season award.
Club centurion Sam Johnson, a late addition to the Barbarians squad, completes the trio of Glasgow representatives by pulling on the number 23 jersey.
The World XV dressing room will also have three Warriors suiting up for duty, with Fraser Brown bringing 140 appearances worth of experience to the team’s ranks as he starts at hooker.
Oli Kebble will join Brown amongst the front-row ranks, the prop starting at tight-head for the World XV before linking up with the Barbarians for their upcoming clash with Swansea in the coming weeks.
Allan Dell makes it a hat-trick of Scotland front-rowers lining up for the World XV, having been named amongst the replacements after representing the Barbarians last summer.
Supporters can watch the match live on Channel 5, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
