A series of outstanding displays saw the Warriors go unbeaten across all competitions in December, claiming four wins from four massive matches to close out the calendar year in style.
Smith’s men began the month with an impressive 26-21 victory away to Sale Sharks to kick-off the Investec Champions Cup in winning fashion, before one of the most iconic results in the club’s history saw the Warriors roar back from a 21-0 deficit to claim a 28-21 win over six-time European champions, Toulouse, in front of a sold-out Scotstoun.
The Warriors then did the double over Edinburgh for the first time since 2022 to lift the 1872 Cup for a fourth successive season, a 24-12 win at Hampden Park backed up by a 21-3 triumph at Scottish Gas Murrayfield last weekend.
Supporters can vote for their chosen winner until 11.59pm on Friday 2 January by clicking here.
The nominees are:
Gregor Brown
Brown continued to furnish his burgeoning reputation in the loose forwards across December, offering a dynamic presence in all four of the club’s outings in December.
The loose-forward raised the roof at Scotstoun by crashing over under the posts against Toulouse to fuel the fightback, just one of a series of physical carries against the French heavyweights.
He continued his run of outstanding form in the 1872 Cup double-header, providing a powerful impact from the replacements bench in both matches to help his team secure the trophy.
Matt Fagerson
Fagerson returned to Glasgow colours in barnstorming fashion, finding himself at the heart of four massive team performances.
The back-rower was the first to cross the whitewash in the 1872 Cup, barging his way over from close-range at Hampden Park to open the scoring for Smith’s squad.
Time and again Fagerson also led the defensive charge, topping the tackle charts away to Sale Sharks and at home to Edinburgh to keep opponents at bay.
Stafford McDowall
A landmark December saw McDowall mark both personal and team milestones in an unbeaten month, the centre playing all 320 minutes across December for Smith’s men.
The centre marked his 100th appearance for the club in style in victory away to Sale Sharks, crossing for what proved to be the match-winning score at the Corpacq Stadium.
His defensive nous was then on full display at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday, repeatedly shutting down Edinburgh attacking opportunities and keeping the capital outfit try-less in the 1872 Cup decider.
Jamie Dobie
Having started the month at scrum-half and finished it on the wing, Dobie once again showcased both his versatility and all-round skillset across the month of December.
His game management was key to securing victory away to Sale Sharks, before setting up Josh McKay’s try against Toulouse at Scotstoun to start the unforgettable comeback.
Dobie then saved the best for last, crossing for a brace of tries in a virtuoso, BKT Player of the Match-winning performance against Edinburgh at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
