Miller pens new deal with Glasgow Warriors

Ally Miller is excited to continue to build with Glasgow Warriors, after the back-rower agreed terms on a new deal that will keep him at Scotstoun until at least the summer of 2026.

The 27-year-old becomes the latest Warrior to pledge his immediate future to the club ahead of the new campaign, the Preston Lodge product having enjoyed a breakout campaign in Glasgow colours to date.

Having initially made the switch from cross-country rivals Edinburgh in the summer of 2021, former Scotland 7s standout Miller has impressed across all three back-row positions in 2023/24, enjoying a run of standout performances for Franco Smith’s squad.

His versatility and form have seen him make 11 of his 26 appearances to date for the club across the campaign so far, including featuring in all four of the club’s Investec Champions Cup pool stage fixtures.

Indeed, one of the highlights of the season so far came courtesy of the back-rower, Miller crossing for his first try in Glasgow colours in memorable fashion by outpacing the Bayonne defence from 40 metres during December’s 12-11 win at the Stade Jean Dauger.

A similarly memorable finish followed just a week later in the 22-10 victory over Edinburgh at Scotstoun, with Miller’s form earning him a call-up to the senior Scotland setup during the 2024 Guinness Six Nations.

“I’m really excited to re-sign,” Miller told glasgowwarriors.org.

“Since arriving at the club, I’ve been really fortunate to receive the opportunities that I have, but I’ve also had a few injuries. I’ve loved the stretch of game time that I’ve had this season, and knowing that Franco has the confidence in you and the squad to get the job done is testament to how much everyone is pulling in the right direction.

“I’ve just enjoyed getting my head down and working hard to get back into action, and everyone at the club has been brilliant. That was a big factor in my decision to renew, because knowing that people at the club have faith in you and what you contribute to the team is massive. I’m loving being a part of the club, and I’m grateful for every opportunity I get.

“It’s a cliché, but we just take each game as it comes. It’s been a real squad effort to put us in this position to compete at the business end of the season and I’m proud to be part of this group of players. Having the whole squad aligned has been huge for us this season, and the character being shown from everyone really shines through. I’m excited to get stuck in.”

Head Coach Smith added: “Ally has shown great dedication to come back from the long-term injury he suffered last season, and he has taken every opportunity that has come his way with both hands.

“He has been a big contributor for us this season, not just on the field but around the training environment. He’s a very detailed player and person and he gives his all across the board.

“We’re looking forward to helping to further develop Ally and help him become the best version of himself.”
