The 23-year-old claimed 30% of the vote, narrowly edging out Ollie Smith by just 2% to take home the first trophy of the campaign.
Oguntibeju was a prominent figure throughout September, starting in all three of the club’s fixtures across the month.
Having packed down as part of a youthful cohort of Glasgow forwards away to Bath in pre-season, the second-rower produced an energetic performance in victory over Northampton Saints, before featuring at the heart of a dominant pack in the club’s victory over the Hollywoodbets Sharks in the opening round of the BKT United Rugby Championship.
“I’ve just been happy to have the opportunity to play,” Oguntibeju told glasgowwarriors.org following the news.
“I feel like I’ve progressed from when I first came into the team last season right up to now, and I’m just pleased to keep getting the opportunity to put myself out there and play for this club.
“My goal for this season is just to play more regularly. I was in and out of the team with injury when I first came in last season, so I just want to keep putting my hand up and pushing for selection. The coaches have been great with me – I’ve looked to work on getting my hands on the ball a bit more, as well as my communication around the park, and I want to keep pushing to get better.
“We’ve got a great, close group of second-rowers here – I’ve played with Al [Alex Samuel] a lot now and we’ve started to develop that chemistry, and obviously Scott [Cummings] is a Lion now so he brings that experience and quality to everything he does. We all push each other to get better and it’s a great environment for me to just keep learning.”
