Warren to make first start for Glasgow Warriors

30 Jan 2026

Glasgow Warriors Head Coach Lindsey Smith has made three alterations to the starting line-up ahead of this weekend’s Celtic Challenge fixture against Clovers at Scotstoun Stadium (Saturday 31 January, kick-off 2pm) – live on Celtic Challenge YouTube.

There are two changes in the forwards, with Katie Lindsay and Eilidh MacGilvray being promoted from the bench, while Hillhead Jordanhill’s Millie Warren makes her first start for the club at inside centre.

There is also a potential Glasgow Warriors debut for Stirling County’s Ciorstaidh Ainsworth, with the forward named amongst the replacements.

In the front row, Aicha Sutcliffe continues at hooker, while Poppy Fletcher and Lindsay pack down alongside her at loosehead prop and tighthead prop respectively.

In the pack, Holland Bogan and Freya Walker team up in the second row once more, while Gemma Thomson, MacGilvray and Emily Coubrough are all named in the back row.

Rebekah Douglas and Ceitidh Ainsworth continue their half-back partnership, while last weekend’s try scorer Briar McNamara partners Warren in the midfield.

The back-three sees Poppy Mellanby retain her position at full-back, with Robyn Allan and Sky Phimister once again lining up on the wings.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Smith said: “It’s great to be back at Scotstoun this weekend and the players are really looking forward to putting in a strong performance in front of our home crowd.

“We’ve taken some crucial learnings from our last two fixtures against the Irish sides. They’re aggressive around the contact area and very strong technically, so we know exactly the challenge that’s coming.

“When we get opportunities to carry the ball, we have to look after it, and that’s been a key focus for us going into this game against Clovers. We want to stay true to our principles, move the ball well and play with speed.”
