Huw Jones caught up with glasgowwarriors.org following Friday nights win against Perpignan at BT Murrayfield.  Although Glasgow came away with the win, it was clear from Jones, that there is work to be done ahead of next weekend 1872 game against Edinburgh.

“A five-point win and a bonus point win is great.  We will take the result and move on in the competition. We definitely didn’t get everything right, we ground it out and it was ugly but we will take the five points. There is lots to fix ahead of next week.”

Following a week of freezing temperatures and uncertainty surrounding the game, Jones gives thanks to those who made the playing the fixture possible.

“I don’t think any of us players will fully understand what goes on behind the scenes, but we are very grateful that the game went ahead” Jones said.

“We saw the pitch at Scotstoun, it was fully frozen and definitely unplayable. Huge props to everyone who was involved to make that happen. We are very thankful.”

Jones also mentioned how encouraging it is that supporters were able to make the trip through despite the venue change.

“It was so great to have support here as well.  We understand that with the last-minute change and with the weather, many fans couldn’t make it.  But we really appreciate the support all the time and those who were able to make it along.

“We know that Scotstoun would have been bouncing and to have that support here at Murrayfield is amazing. We can hear it on the pitch and it really lifted us during the game.”

The weekend’s win sets the Warriors on a winning streak, and it will be about taking that winning momentum into training and preparations this week ahead of the 1872 Cup.

“They are always massive. We love them.  We love getting stuck in.  I’d absolutely love to be involved and if I am it will be all guns blazing.”
