The success for the Scottish side sends them through to the semifinal against Munster next weekend. Whilst the South African side proved physical in defence throughout the match, it was no match for the Warriors.

The scoreline was always in Glasgow’s favour. Furthermore, with three tries from Sebastian Cancelliere, Ross Thompson and Henco Venter (his first try for the club), the Warriors soar through to another round of knockout rugby.

Matt Fagerson got stuck into the rucks and several scrums that occurred particularly in the first half. Six points were scored by George Horne in the first half, giving Glasgow the advantage after Manie Libbok missed two penalties.

Matt commented on the slow start given the physical play in the midfield for the first quarter of the match.

“It was a bit of a slow start,” Matt said. “We eased our way into the game. I think we controlled territory really well. The way we were playing with boot to ball when we needed to, I’m really happy with how we played.”

The second half saw an injection of pace from both sides. Swapping the midfield defensive play for boot to ball, kicks from the Warriors and Stormers opened up the field and also the scoreboard.

A break from Sione Tuipulotu supported Sebastian Cancelliere for the first Glasgow try of the match.

“It was brilliant how it came off,” Matt said. “We had a lot of good forward play.”

Matt credited the Player of the Match George Horne for his accurate kicking that gave Glasgow the lead for the entire match.

“Hats off to George for his kicking. He made the right decision to go for the posts and get the points.”

Glasgow showed a much-improved performance in the knockout round and will be taking their physicality forward as they face Munster on Saturday 15 June in the URC semifinal.
