Hiddleston extends contract with Glasgow Warriors

Glasgow Warriors have retained the services of one of Scotland’s most promising young forwards, after Gregor Hiddleston extended his contract with the club until at least the summer of 2028.

A product of Dumfries Saints, the hooker has been at the heart of some of Glasgow’s most memorable fixtures in recent memory, including scoring in successive victories over Sale Sharks, Toulouse – with what ultimately proved to be the winning try – and Edinburgh back in December.

Hiddleston first broke into the Glasgow Warriors setup in January 2024, making his debut in an all-action display away to Exeter Chiefs in the Investec Champions Cup.

A first try followed soon after, crossing in a 45-3 victory away to the Scarlets in March 2024 as he played his part in helping the Warriors to the 2023/24 BKT United Rugby Championship title.

Defensively the 23-year-old has repeatedly made an impact, making 27 tackles in a 22-minute cameo off the bench away to Ulster in the opening round of the 2025/26 season, and regularly featuring amongst the league leaders in turnovers across the BKT URC.

Hiddleston has previously represented Scotland at U20 level, alongside future club-mates Alex Samuel, Max Williamson and Euan Ferrie.

He was called into the senior Scotland setup for the first time ahead of the 2026 Guinness Six Nations, featuring in Scotland A’s 24-24 draw with Italy XV at the start of February.

“I’m absolutely buzzing – I’m delighted to be staying,” Hiddleston told glasgowwarriors.org.

“It’s a really exciting to be part of this club. I’ve learnt so much already and I’m loving being here. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

“I was learning a lot when I first came in, and I definitely feel like I’m still learning. You can see the experience that we’ve got here though and it’s showing week in, week out – we’re competing well and winning big games, and I just want to keep on progressing.

“We’re in a really good place at the moment. Being top of the league and unbeaten in Europe speaks for itself, but we know we can’t take our foot off the gas at all. We’ve got a big game against Benetton on Friday and then a massive last-16 tie with the Bulls next weekend, so we know we need to keep our standards high and keep putting in good performances.

“I just want to keep developing and keep moving forward – I want to keep being part of the big games and big wins with the boys here.”

Head Coach Franco Smith added: “Gregor has worked hard on his own game and is committed to his own development, and we are pleased that he has renewed his contract with us.

“His impact in both attack and defence has been evident throughout this season, whilst also providing a solid set-piece platform for our team.

“He is keen to keep progressing as a Warrior and we know that he will give his all for this club every time he sets foot on the field.”
