Flynn to make Glasgow Warriors debut

Scotland U20 centre Nicole Flynn will make her Glasgow Warriors debut tomorrow afternoon, after being named in the midfield for tomorrow’s clash with Brython Thunder at Scotstoun.

The Stirling County product is one of four changes from last weekend’s lineup, as Lindsey Smith’s squad take to the field as part of Glasgow’s Club of Origin double-header.

Two of those changes come in the front-row, as Megan Hyland and Eilidh Fleming come in to pack down alongside Poppy Fletcher at the coal-face.

Aisha Zameer comes into the starting XV to replace the injured Holland Bogan, the University of Strathclyde student – a try-scorer off the bench last time out – partnering Kate Yeomans in the second-row.

An unchanged back-row means Emily Coubrough once again packs down at number eight after linking up with Scotland as a day-trainer this week, with Freya Walker and Eilidh MacGilvray retaining their places on the flanks.

Mairi McDonald captains the side for the second match in succession from scrum-half, as Ceitidh Ainsworth lines up in the number 10 jersey outside the Scotland international after a performance that saw her make 19 out of 19 tackles against Gwalia Lightning last weekend.

Briar McNamara continues at inside-centre, the club’s top points-scorer in the Celtic Challenge forming a new midfield combination alongside Flynn.

Orla Proctor shifts to the wing for the first time in the competition to accommodate the inclusion of Flynn, joining Abi Evans and Poppy Mellanby in the back-three for tomorrow’s clash.

Club captain Ailie Tucker joins Sutcliffe and Alex Ward amongst the front-row cover amongst the replacements, with Ward drawing into the matchday 23 for the first time since January’s trip to Gwalia Lightning.

Rowann Sinclair returns to Glasgow action to wear the number 19 jersey, whilst Sophie Price and Rianna Darroch both retain their places on the bench from last weekend’s encounter.

Millie Warren and Roma Fraser complete the matchday squad, the latter returning to the squad after a try-scoring outing against the Clovers three weeks ago.

Speaking following selection, Head Coach Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: “We’re excited to run out at Scotstoun tomorrow, as we recognise the clubs that helped shape our Warriors.

“Training this week has been sharp and focused, with everyone keen to be involved in our final home match of the 2024/25 season.

“We look forward to the test that Brython will bring, and we’re ready to meet that challenge in front of the Warrior Nation.”
