Ten Warriors feature in Scotland’s squad against Chile
A total of six Glasgow Warriors players will start for Scotland on Saturday (20 July), when the men’s national team plays Chile in Santiago.
Kick-off is 8pm in the UK and the match can be watched live on TNT Sports 1 and BBC Scotland.
Full back Kyle Rowe and inside centre Sione Tuipulotu retain their places in the 15 and 12 jerseys respectively. Tuipulotu also continues as co-captain. Meanwhile, Kyle Steyn moves from the wing to outside centre – while retaining the vice-captaincy – and he is ably replaced in the number 14 jersey by club mate, Jamie Dobie.
Prop Nathan McBeth and flanker Gregor Brown are in line to win their second international caps having been selected to start on Saturday. On the bench, Max Williamson, Rory Darge, Adam Hastings, and Stafford McDowall have been named.
In recent seasons, Sione Tuipulotu has paired up with a variety of Glasgow Warriors players at 13, most regularly with Huw Jones, and for a portion of the 2023/24 season he and Stafford McDowall linked up.
A less common pairing is the one Head Coach, Gregor Townsend, has selected for the Chile fixture, of Tuipulotu and Steyn. At the turn of the year in the 2021/22 season this pairing won two-games-from-two. Both scored in the 33-14 win over Dragons RFC at Scotstoun Stadium, and there was a brace for Steyn in the 42-20 victory over Connacht at The Sportsground.
