Twelve Warriors selected for Scotland’s Fiji clash as Stephen in line for debut

Centre Stafford McDowall is named as Scotland captain for the clash in Edinburgh after another impressive campaign in Glasgow colours.

McDowall is one of seven Warriors named in Gregor Townsend’s starting XV, with George Horne earning his 47th Scotland cap and named Vice-Captain.

There is a landmark occasion in the front-row for Gregor Hiddleston, who is handed his first Scotland start after making his international debut earlier this Championship.

The hooker packs down alongside fellow Warrior Rory Sutherland, whilst Max Williamson continues at lock after an impressive start to the summer Test window.

In the back-row, Gregor Brown is selected at number eight for the first time in his Scotland career having previously featured across the second-row and blindside flank.

Outside Horne and McDowall, Ollie Smith makes his first appearance of the summer series after being selected at outside centre.

Among the replacements, Seb Stephen is in line to make his Scotland debut after being included in the matchday 23 for the first time.

The hooker has enjoyed a breakthrough year with the Warriors and could become the latest player to earn his first international cap after emerging from the club’s development pathway.

The bench also includes Zander Fagerson, Scott Cummings, Jamie Dobie and Sione Tuipulotu, taking Glasgow’s total representation to 12 players for Saturday’s showdown with Fiji.
