The 31-year-old – who made 12 appearances in 2024/25, his first season as a Warrior – was a standout performer on the 2021 tour of South Africa, earning two Test caps in the famous red jersey.

Sutherland will link up with the Lions squad in Melbourne next Sunday following the first Test, providing front-row cover for the clash with the First Nations & Pasifika XV on Tuesday 22 July.

He will join fellow Warriors Sione Tuipulotu, Huw Jones and Scott Cummings in Australia, the trio having played a prominent role in Saturday’s 48-0 victory over the AUNZ Invitational XV.
