Four players to have represented Glasgow Warriors in their inaugural Celtic Challenge campaign have been selected in an extended Scotland training squad ahead of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations, as preparations continue ahead of the tournament getting underway.

The quartet – who have each represented the club thanks to agreed releases from their respective Premiership Women’s Rugby squads – are amongst the 35 players to have become Glasgow Warriors to date, with Chris Laidlaw’s squad preparing for their final match in this season’s Celtic Challenge against Gwalia Lightning in Belfast this Saturday.

Louise McMillan – who started in the second-row in the first-ever match for Glasgow Warriors’ women’s squad, before scoring in the club’s inaugural home match against the Wolfhounds – is the most-experienced of the four players selected, the Hillhead Jordanhill product potentially set to win her 50th cap for Scotland across the course of the 2024 Guinness Six Nations.

Another try-scorer for Glasgow in the Celtic Challenge, Beth Blacklock, is one of three backs to have represented the Warriors in this season’s competition, the Saracens centre looking to add to her tally of three caps to date.

McMillan’s former Hillhead Jordanhill team-mate Mairi McDonald is selected amongst the scrum-halves, the 26-year-old having played in all bar one of Glasgow’s Celtic Challenge matches thus far.

The newest Glasgow Warrior rounds out the quartet selected, after Coreen Grant made her club debut in Saturday’s clash with Brython Thunder as part of Club of Origin round at Scotstoun.

In addition, hooker Nikki Simpson has earned a central development contract with Scottish Rugby, designed to allow her to train more often at the highest level.
