The Inverness native claimed over 67% of the public vote amongst the Warrior Nation to take home the award, having showcased his all-round skillset at both scrum-half and on the wing across the month.
Having started December by helping to guide the Warriors to a valuable 26-21 win away to Sale Sharks, Dobie was then at the heart of an unforgettable Investec Champions Cup comeback, producing a superb display on the wing and setting up Josh McKay’s score in a 28-21 win over Toulouse at Scotstoun.
It was in the 1872 Cup double-header in which Dobie truly shone, however, standing up Darcy Graham on the outside to a rapturous reception at Hampden Park and coming within inches of the try-line on more than one occasion.
There was to be no denying him just a week later, though, as he crossed for a brace of tries in a virtuoso, BKT URC Player of the Match-winning performance at Scottish Gas Murrayfield to help his side retain the 1872 Cup for a fourth successive season.
Reflecting on a successful month, Dobie told glasgowwarriors.org: “December was a massive month for the club, both in terms of the results that we had and the performances across those four matches.
“It was great to be a part of some of those historic results for the club – starting it off with the two European games was massive and picking up an away win at Sale and five points was a great way to start.
“To then obviously to back it up the week after and have such a brilliant night at Scotstoun with one of the best atmospheres I’ve felt, if not the best, by beating Toulouse was amazing, and then straight into two huge weeks and two huge wins in the derbies with Edinburgh – it all sort of goes by in a flash when you’ve got such big games back to back!
“The support, too – I mentioned the atmosphere in that Toulouse match in particular, but throughout December the Warrior Nation was something else. We always greatly appreciate the way the supporters get behind us – even in matches like the derbies that might not have been the greatest spectacles on the pitch, to experience Hampden again and then do the double at Murrayfield was really special.
“I hope the supporters can see the effort that we’re putting out on the pitch, and how much their support means to us. It’s a long season and this is a really busy block between the two international windows, and everyone at the club really appreciates the supporters getting behind us week in, week out. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the Warrior Nation in France this weekend!”
