11 Warriors selected for Wales encounter

6 Mar 2025

Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend has named 11 Glasgow Warriors in his matchday squad for Saturday’s clash with Wales at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, as his side takes to the field for the final time at home in the 2025 Guinness Six Nations.

Of the 11 selected, 10 were involved in the narrow defeat to England last time out, with Rory Sutherland having been a late withdrawal on the day of the match.

Zander Fagerson once again anchors the scrum at tight-head, with only Blair Kinghorn having made more carries for Scotland in the tournament to date.

Rory Darge co-captains the side from the openside flank, the North Berwick product topping the tackle charts for the men in blue so far in the 2025 Guinness Six Nations.

Darge is joined in the back-row by Jack Dempsey, the number eight set to win his 26th cap for Scotland this weekend.

Tom Jordan continues at inside-centre, his break and inside pass having set up Ben White for Scotland’s opening try at Allianz Stadium.

Huw Jones lines up outside his club-mate in the midfield, the centre’s try at Allianz Stadium having made him Scotland’s joint-top try-scorer in the history of the Guinness Six Nations.

Six Warriors await their opportunity amongst the replacements, with Sutherland once again named as the cover at loose-head prop after recovering from the back spasms that caused his late withdrawal a fortnight ago.

Gregor Brown wears the number 19 jersey in a five-three split of forwards and backs on the bench, with Matt Fagerson joining the Aberdonian as the cover in the back-five of the scrum.

All three backs selected amongst the replacements ply their trade at Scotstoun, as George Horne – now just one try behind DTH van der Merwe in the Glasgow Warriors all-time scoring charts – comes into the matchday 23 to join Stafford McDowall and Kyle Rowe.

Scotland host Wales at Scottish Gas Murrayfield this Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 4.45pm – you can watch the match live on BBC One.
