Price and Fagerson selected to tour with 2021 British and Irish Lions
Glasgow Warriors duo Ali Price and Zander Fagerson have been selected for the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa.
It will be a first tour for both players, as they follow in the footsteps of an illustrious list of former Warriors to represent the world’s most famous touring squad.
27-year-old scrum-half Price is named amongst the 37-man playing group after consistently impressing for both club and country, going from strength to strength since his Glasgow Warriors debut in 2014.
A two-time winner of the club’s Player of the Season award, he has made 95 appearances in Glasgow colours to date.
Price’s club form saw him quickly become an integral part of the senior Scotland setup, making his international debut in a 43-16 victory over Georgia at Rugby Park in 2016.
He has been involved in every Guinness Six Nations match since 2018, starting all bar one of Scotland’s matches in the 2021 championship.
25-year-old tight-head Fagerson has become one of the premier props in the northern hemisphere since coming off the bench for his first Glasgow appearance in a win over Benetton in 2014.
Having been named in the starting XV to face Edinburgh, he will become the latest player to join the list of club centurions when he makes his 100th appearance for the Warriors.
His club form saw him earn a first Scotland cap in the opening match of the 2016 Guinness Six Nations, earning 38 caps to date and representing his country at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Fagerson and brother Matt became the 22nd pair of brothers to represent Scotland, whilst the tight-head’s dynamism also saw him standout in the 2021 Guinness Six Nations.
