14 Warriors selected for Scotland in 6 Nations opener

5 Feb 2026

Glasgow Warriors will form the backbone of the Scotland side as the national team open their 2026 Guinness Men’s Six Nations campaign against Italy in Rome this Saturday, with 14 Warriors players named in the matchday 23 for the clash at Stadio Olimpico (kick-off 2.10pm UK time, live on BBC One).

At the heart of the side is captain Sione Tuipulotu, who will lead Scotland throughout this year’s championship. Tuipulotu starts at inside centre alongside clubmate Huw Jones, with the established partnership set to combine for the 18th time at Test level.

Jamie Dobie earns his first Six Nations start on the left wing with Warriors captain Kyle Steyn selected on the right. George Horne and Adam Hastings are both named among the replacements to provide attacking impetus later in the contest.

In the forwards, Zander Fagerson packs down at tighthead prop, while Scott Cummings returns to Six Nations action in the second row after missing last year’s championship through injury. The back row is an all-Warriors unit, with Matt Fagerson starting at blindside flanker, Rory Darge at openside, and Jack Dempsey completing the trio at number eight.

Further Warriors involvement comes from the bench, with Nathan McBeth, Max Williamson and Gregor Brown all named as forward replacements.
