Mann one of 16 Warriors selected for Guinness Six Nations

Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend has named 16 Glasgow Warriors in his squad for the upcoming Guinness Six Nations, with the uncapped Jack Mann included in a senior Scotland setup for the first time in his professional career.

A former standout for Scotland U20, 25-year-old Mann made his first appearance at Scotstoun – and first Glasgow Warriors appearance in 719 days – by playing the full 80 minutes in victory over the Scarlets at the end of November, a performance that included contributing to the decisive chargedown with the clock in the red.

He has since gone on to feature in every subsequent Glasgow Warriors fixture, including starting in both 1872 Cup matches at number eight, as well as Friday night’s Investec Champions Cup victory over Racing 92 at Scotstoun.

The squad is once again captained by Sione Tuipulotu, the centre retained as skipper after a run of standout performances that have included two Player of the Match awards against Edinburgh at Hampden Park and Racing 92 at Scotstoun.

Zander Fagerson is the most experienced Warrior selected in Townsend’s playing group, his tally of 70 caps behind only former Glasgow team-mates Jonny Gray and Finn Russell in the overall squad.

Matt Fagerson and Huw Jones each bring a half-century of caps worth of experience, with both men having reached the 50-cap mark during The Famous Grouse Nations Series in November.

Scotland’s breakthrough player of the November window also retains his place, as Tom Jordan joins Stafford McDowall – who captained Scotland on a solo basis for the first time against Portugal – in Townsend’s playing group.

Kyle Rowe and Jamie Dobie’s consistently high levels of performance see the pair included after an impressive run of form since returning to club action, whilst George Horne complete the cohort of Glasgow backs selected having become the club’s all-time leading try-scorer in European competition with his try against Racing 92.

Gregor Brown’s form since returning from injury sees the Aberdonian included in the pack, joining Scott Cummings – with whom he has started each of the last three matches in the second-row – in the options available to the Scotland coaching team up front.

A brace of Glasgow loose-heads in the form of Jamie Bhatti and Rory Sutherland are amongst the front-rowers selected by Townsend, the latter having featured off the bench for Scotland in all four of The Famous Grouse Nations Series matches in 2024.

Rory Darge continues as one of Tuipulotu’s vice-captains, whilst Jack Dempsey is included in the squad as the back-rower continues to near a return from an injury sustained against South Africa in November.

Scotland open their campaign at home to Italy on Saturday 1 February, with kick-off scheduled for 2.15pm.
