The high-scoring game away at Cardiff Arms Park saw both teams securing bonus-point tries. Whilst the hosts pushed Glasgow in the opening minutes of the match, the Warriors displayed the mentality of champions to take the bonus-point win.

An early try from Jamie Dobie set the momentum going for the squad. However, Cardiff’s play did well to disrupt Glasgow’s attack.

Player of the Match Sione Tuipulotu scored a sizzling try, beating three defenders to score at the end of the first half. Whilst Cardiff struck back early in the second half to close the point deficit, Glasgow proved too strong.

Glasgow winger Kyle Rowe scored a try in each half. His second was a masterclass in footballing skills, a fantastic chip and chase score.

“The first try I didn’t think I was going to get through,” Kyle said.

“The second one was a bit lucky, but I was glad I could show some of my football skills with that score.”

Kyle commented on how enjoyable the high-scoring game was for the Glasgow backs.

“The first 15 to 20 minutes weren’t as enjoyable because we were on the back foot.

“But when we started running the ball, we were dangerous. We scored some good tries, but we felt that our flow was disrupted by Cardiff.

“To come away from Cardiff with five points is good.”

With the opening rounds of the URC displaying some tight contests, securing five points on the road was crucial to the Warriors.

“It made a massive difference when we dropped points last season with away games,” Kyle said. “So, to come away with the bonus-point win is big.

“Hopefully, it will help us towards the latter end of the season when we’ll be fighting for those play-off spots.”

Glasgow Warriors return to Scotstoun for Round 4 of the competition. They will face Italian side Zebre Parma. Kyle stressed how important it would be to back up the Round 3 win in front of home supporters.

“It would be massive. To take another five points against Zebre next Friday would be big. Especially at home with the Warrior Nation behind us: it’ll be huge.

“The main thing for us now is to recover well over the weekend and hit Monday running.”
