Six Glasgow academy prospects selected for Scotland U20

28 Jun 2023

Six of the club’s brightest prospects will be suiting up for Scotland U20 in Kenya next month, after Head Coach Kenny Murray named a 28-strong squad for the upcoming World Rugby U20 Trophy.

The squad will be co-captained by 2022/23 Glasgow Warriors academy scrum-half Ben Afshar, as the men in blue look to earn promotion back to the top tier of U20 international rugby.

Three of the Glasgow academy representatives are named amongst the forwards, with Callum Norrie selected after returning to international duty in Saturday’s win over Spain after an injury sustained in this season’s U20 Six Nations.

Ruaraidh Hart brings both dynamism and versatility to the pack, the Glasgow Hawks man capable of playing in both the second-row and back-row for Murray’s men.

Jonny Morris completes the Glasgow forwards selected, having started at openside in the victory over Spain in Zamora.

Behind the scrum, Kerr Yule is selected amongst the midfield options for the men in blue, the young centre having been a standout for Ayrshire Bulls in the recent FOSROC Super Series Sprint.

Ben Salmon joins Yule amongst the centres, the pair having dove-tailed to excellent effect in Zamora on Saturday night.

Logan Jarvie completes the Glasgow academy contingent, the winger hoping to transfer his form for Stirling Wolves onto the international stage.

Scotland kick-off their campaign – and indeed the competition itself – on Saturday 15 July when they take on Zimbabwe at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. Kick-off is at 8am BST.
