Schickerling’s displays have earned him plaudits from supporters and pundits alike across the course of 2025/26 to date, his dynamism with ball in hand matched by his tenacity in defence.

A try against the Vodacom Bulls capped an all-action outing from the prop, producing a series of barnstorming carries in challenging conditions.

He continued his fine recent form in the club’s opening match of May, coming off the bench to power over in Friday night’s 40-17 win over Cardiff at Scotstoun on Plaster It Purple night.

“I want to say a big thank you to the supporters for voting for me. It’s a great honour to be recognised by them, especially with so many other worthy players within our squad.

“When you’re surrounded by world-class players, it’s easy to be able to just focus on your job. You know that the guy next to you is going to give his all, so it then puts all the focus on you to work hard and make sure you’re in the best position possible. If I can do that and help the team as best as I can, then I’m in a good place.

“Everyone here drives each other forward, no matter whether you’re selected for the weekend or not. The levels are so high – Franco always talks about passing on the baton, and everyone is pushing each other to get better every day.

“We know that this weekend is a big test for us – Ulster are going to be fighting to make sure they get in the playoffs and to continue their own momentum ahead of their European final next week. We just want to focus on ourselves though, and focus on putting out the best performance that we can on Friday.”
