Rowe ready for playoff challenge

27 May 2026

Kyle Rowe is eagerly anticipating the return of playoff rugby to Scotstoun this weekend, as Glasgow Warriors prepare to welcome Connacht in what promises to be a blockbuster BKT United Rugby Championship Quarter Final.

The winger was at the heart of the Round 18 victory away to Ulster that secured Glasgow’s spot as top seeds for the playoffs, with Franco Smith’s squad gearing up for a fourth successive last-eight showdown at the home of the Warriors.

“This is what you train and play all year for,” Rowe told glasgowwarriors.org.

“All the boys are buzzing – there’s a great mood about the place and everyone is raring to go on Friday night.”

Smith’s men finished the season with a maximum 10 points from their final two matches, securing their finish on top of the standings after  the closest regular-season campaign in BKT URC history.

A six-try win at home to Cardiff was followed by a first victory over Ulster in Belfast since 2013, results that Rowe believes can only serve his side in good stead as the heat continues to rise.

“We’ve built a lot of confidence over the last two games,” said the winger.

“We were pleased with how we performed against Cardiff in front of a sold-out Scotstoun on Plaster It Purple night, and then to take that momentum over to Belfast and get the win against a good Ulster side was great.

“The aim now for us is to carry that momentum into this weekend against an in-form Connacht team this Friday night.”

Rowe’s form has also seen him catch the eye of supporters and pundits alike across the BKT URC, with the 28-year-old featuring in the top five league-wide for defenders beaten, metres gained and clean breaks in an impressive campaign in Glasgow colours.

“The season probably didn’t start the way I would have hoped from a personal perspective, with a couple of small injuries here and there, but I feel like I’ve come back from those injuries stronger and fully ready to get stuck in,” he said.

“The team’s been performing well too and we’re all focused on Friday night.”

With Friday night’s clash on track to be an eighth consecutive sell-out at Scotstoun, the stage is set for an unmissable showdown in Glasgow’s west end.

It’s an atmosphere that Rowe and his team-mates are already relishing, as they set their sights on the Friday night lights.

“It’s always a pleasure running out in front of the Warrior Nation,” said the winger.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s sunny, raining, night or day, we know that we’ll be hearing the supporters behind us every time we run out at Scotstoun.

“We can’t wait to get out there on Friday night.”
