Horne and Fagerson return for Cardiff clash

7 May 2026

George Horne and Matt Fagerson will both make their return from injury under the Friday night lights, as Glasgow Warriors host Cardiff in their final home match of the 2025/26 BKT United Rugby Championship regular season.

The match will also double as the club’s annual Plaster It Purple fixture, supported by Cameron House, as a sold-out Scotstoun comes together to help raise money and awareness for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Jamie Bhatti and Johnny Matthews will each take to the field in a regular season match for the final time at Scotstoun after being named to start tomorrow evening, with Zander Fagerson completing the front-row trio.

Ally Miller starts in the second-row for the first time in Glasgow Warriors colours, partnering Alex Samuel in the engine room.

Jack Dempsey is another set to run out at Scotstoun for the final time in the regular season, as Matt Fagerson and Rory Darge line up on the flanks.

Horne returns to action as he starts at scrum-half, as Dan Lancaster returns to the lineup in the number 10 jersey.

Sione Tuipulotu and Stafford McDowall combine in the midfield, both men having featured in each of Glasgow’s four matches in the month of April.

Kyle Steyn captains the side from the wing, with Kyle Rowe and Josh McKay rounding out the back-three.

The bench sees Ben Afshar and Ollie Smith cover the backline in a six-two split of forwards and backs amongst the replacements, having each featured prominently on the tour of South Africa.

Gregor Hiddleston provides cover at hooker, joining Patrick Schickerling and Sam Talakai as the front-row replacements.

Jare Oguntibeju wears the number 19 jersey, whilst Macenzzie Duncan and Sione Vailanu complete the cohort of replacements selected for tomorrow night’s clash.

Speaking following selection, Head Coach Franco Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: “Everyone is looking forward to being back at our home tomorrow night, as we prepare for our annual Plaster It Purple fixture.

“Cardiff remain firmly in the playoff hunt with a squad fully committed to their goal, and they will come here ready to compete for everything tomorrow night.

“Our focus this week has been on ourselves. We know how much the supporters are a part of our journey, especially this season – we want to give them a performance to be proud of in our last home game of the regular season.”
