Glasgow Warriors will open their pre-season campaign with a trip to the English champions this September, after it was confirmed that Franco Smith’s squad will face Bath at The Rec ahead of the 2025/26 season getting underway.

The match will take place on Saturday 6 September, with kick-off for the match scheduled for 3pm.

It will be a first visit to The Rec for Smith’s men since December 2022, when a late penalty from Duncan Weir secured a 22-19 victory for the Warriors in the EPCR Challenge Cup pool stage, Glasgow’s sole win in Bath to date.

Johan van Graan’s squad enjoyed a landmark 2023/24 campaign, lifting the Premiership Rugby Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup trophies before completing the treble with victory over Leicester Tigers in last month’s Premiership Final.

A squad packed with international talent includes former Glasgow Warriors and current British & Irish Lions fly-half, Finn Russell, as well as Scotland squad regulars Cam Redpath and Josh Bayliss, British & Irish Lions prop Will Stuart, and England standouts including Ben Spencer, Ollie Lawrence and Sam Underhill.

Speaking following the announcement, Head Coach Smith told glasgowwarriors.org: “We look forward to visiting The Rec in September to open our pre-season campaign, as we face a Bath squad whose qualities are well-known across European rugby.

“The success they earned in 2024/25 showcased their physicality in both attack and defence, as well as their ability to cause problems for any side from any are of the field.

“It will also be an important opportunity for our academy and young players to put their hands up and be in the mix for selection; we have a talented group of young players at Scotstoun, all of whom will be eager to pull on a Glasgow Warriors jersey and show what they can do.”
