It’s a value
that’s at the heart of the club’s culture, and a value for which the Warrior
Nation have always been the perfect ambassador.

Take
December’s meeting with La Rochelle at Scotstoun – despite some less than
perfect weather, you turned out in your droves to donate thousands upon
thousands of items to Whiteinch foodbank.

So popular
was this initiative amongst supporters and players alike, the club had planned
to repeat the drive at Scotstoun. However, given the current government
guidelines and the suspension of the Guinness PRO14, we’re encouraging you to
support Well-Fed another way.

Established
in Whiteinch in 2017, the social enterprise has set up a Crowdfunder page with a
target of £20,000 as they aim to provide food parcels to the most at-risk in
Glasgow society during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

However,
with the project set up as an ‘all or nothing’ campaign, Well-Fed need your
support to hit their target by Saturday 4 April.

“We decided
to set up this crowd funder as we have found ourselves in the middle of a
crisis with hundreds of families relying on our support,” said Chris Gray, Managing Director of Well-Fed.

“The aim of
the Crowdfunder is to raise as much money as possible to allow us to continue
to purchase essential supplies for the community.

“The
community is facing challenges such as food insecurity, social isolation and families
not having the means by which to shop weekly. In addition, from a business
perspective Well-Fed are unable to trade and therefore are not generating any
income. Although we may be able to continue this vital work for a couple of
weeks, we are at the mercy of the generosity of strangers.

“By donating
to the Crowdfunder if you’re financially able, you’re helping us to help those
most in-need. We would also encourage people that if they know a vulnerable
older person or a family that could benefit from our help to please get in
touch.

“We have
been overwhelmed by the local support, and are humbled to be a part of how the
city of Glasgow is coming together to support and look after each other.”

Glasgow
Warriors’ most-capped player Rob Harley added: “We’ve always felt a strong tie
between the club and the community.

“At this
time more than ever, it’s important to maintain those bonds with our local
community and make sure that we take care of everyone in our society.

“The appeal
at the La Rochelle game (below) showed all that is good about our fans. Their response
and generosity was incredible to see; as someone who’s grown up with the club,
the care and compassion of Glasgow’s people is a real strength.

“We
encourage all supporters who are able to do so to get behind this campaign.”
