Getting to Hampden Park: Public Transport Guide for the 1872 Cup

16 Dec 2025

With Hampden Park set to host our biggest match of the season to date as we take on Edinburgh this Saturday, we’re encouraging supporters to plan their journey in advance and make use of public transport wherever possible.

Parking in the surrounding area is extremely limited and controlled by permits, so travelling by train, bus or subway is the easiest and most reliable way to arrive in good time for kick-off.

Matchday Travel Benefits for Ticket Holders

Supporters attending the 1872 Cup clash will be able to take advantage of two major public transport benefits on the day.

All ticket holders will receive free travel on First Bus services, with a unique promo code issued in the week leading up to the match. This code can be redeemed in the First Bus app, allowing free bus travel on the day of the game.

You can plan your journey with the First Bus journey planner here.

In addition, ScotRail will be running extra services and longer trains before and after the match between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida / King’s Park, helping supporters travel to Hampden smoothly and return to the city centre after full-time.

Travelling from Scotstoun Stadium

For those starting their journey from the Scotstoun area, the most straightforward route is by train.

Supporters can catch a ScotRail service from Scotstounhill station to Glasgow Central, with regular services operating throughout the day. From there, simply change onto a Cathcart Circle service towards Mount Florida or King’s Park.

Mount Florida station is the closest stop, sitting just a five-minute walk from Hampden Park, while King’s Park and Queen’s Park stations are around 10–15 minutes on foot from the stadium.

Alternatively, once at Glasgow Central, supporters can make use of regular First Bus services heading towards Hampden.

Routes 5, 6, 7, 7A, 31, 34 and 90 all operate from the city centre and stop close to the stadium. Buses can be picked up near Central Station and Gordon Street, with the nearest drop-off points located on Cathcart Road and Aikenhead Road.

Don’t forget to activate your free bus travel in the First Bus app before boarding.

Subway Options

Supporters who prefer the Subway can also combine this with a short bus journey.

From Glasgow Central, it’s a short walk to either St Enoch or Buchanan Street Subway stations. Take the southbound Inner Circle service and disembark at Bridge Street or West Street. From there, local First Bus services run south towards Hampden, providing a convenient final leg of the journey.

We recommend allowing extra time for travel and arriving early, with increased demand expected across all services.

Plan ahead, use public transport where possible, and get ready to back the Warriors as we take on Edinburgh Rugby at Hampden Park.
