Fagerson “When we do what we do well, we are a dangerous team”

Glasgow Warrior’s historic win over Scarlet’s sees them in a European final for the first time in club history. But it wasn’t all plain sailing in the game, Zander Fagerson reflects on the game for glasgowwarriors.org

“Job’s not done but it was a good game of rugby. Bit of a mixed bag in terms of performance, but we got the job done tonight.  We’ve got a big game coming up next week and hopefully the weekend after.

“Playing in the final is pretty exciting.  We just have to stick to our processes and we should hopefully get the win.”

Speaking about that first half, which saw the Scarlets leading at half time Fagerson said “We made it hard for ourselves.

“We had five really good minutes and then couldn’t exit along with a bunch of other things. It was all our own mistakes and we made it really hard.

“At half time, Franco had a good message about sticking to our task and making sure we do our basics well.  So in the second half it was more about not making those mistakes, sticking to our processes and sticking to our game plan.

“We got back in the groove, got back to being us.  Keeping the ball and not making silly mistakes.  When we do what we do well we are a dangerous team, we could take on anyone.

“Fair play to the Scarlets, they put us under a lot of pressure ad came away with the win at half time.  They are a good team, we just dug out the win at the end of the day.”

Fagerson also had a message for the Warrior Nation, some of whom made the long journey to support the squad in Wales.

“It was awesome to see the fans. Even in a full Scarlets stadium they made their voices heard.  We could really hear them and see the flags.  We really appreciate them making the trip. Thank you for all the support, you really helped us in the second half.

“Next week is a massive game and we are going to see you out in your thousands.  You’ve carried us through some tough games over the year, so hoping to see you at the quarter and then hopefully at the finals in that competition as well.  We really appreciate it.”

Glasgow Warriors next home game is in the URC Quarter-Finals against Munster.  More information and tickets can be found here.
