Horne voted McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for December
George Horne has taken home the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award for December, after a month that saw the scrum-half continue his own personal pursuit of history in addition to helping Glasgow Warriors strengthen both their league and European position.
A hat-trick against Sale Sharks saw the former Howe of Fife man become just the second player in club history to reach 50 tries in Glasgow colours, as he continues to hunt down DTH van der Merwe’s record of 54.

In amongst that hat-trick was a sublime solo effort that saw Horne spectacularly regather his own grubber kick down the touchline to score in the corner, whilst his trademark support lines saw him perfectly positioned for each of his tries on the night.
A livewire cameo off the bench against Toulon was to follow, before finding himself at the heart of the action as the Warriors marked their biggest-ever home game in style with a 33-14 win over Edinburgh at Hampden Park, setting them on course to retain the 1872 Cup for a third successive season.
As part of the award Horne also receives a donation to a charity of his choice courtesy of McCrea Financial Services, with the scrum-half electing to support Cancer Card, for whom he is an ambassador.
“It’s been a big month for us,” Horne told glasgowwarriors.org.
“To follow two big European matches with two massive derbies, including the match at Hampden – these are the games everyone wants to be a part of. To be recognised by the Warrior Nation off the back of those games is a really humbling feeling, and I’d like to thank everyone that voted for me.
“All of the games in December were really special fixtures. A great win at home over Sale, then a trip to one of the most historic atmospheres in Europe a week later, were both amazing, but Hampden was something else. To play in front of just under 30,000 fans was unreal, and the win was just the icing on the cake.
“We’ve started the New Year well with the win over Racing and securing a home last-16 tie, and we want to give ourselves the best chance possible of progressing as far as we can in both Europe and back in the URC too.
“I’m proud to be supporting Cancer Card with this award, too. They do an outstanding job supporting those affected by cancer, whether that’s as a patient themselves or as a family member to someone who has been diagnosed, and I’m proud to be their ambassador.”
