Horne voted as McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for September
George Horne has claimed the first McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month award of the 2022/23 season, after the Warrior Nation voted the scrum-half as their winner for the month of September.
It’s the fourth time in his career to date that the 27-year-old has walked away with the club’s monthly award, the most recent occasion coming in November 2019.
Having started the month with a trademark inside support line to cross for a score against the Ayrshire Bulls in Inverness, Horne started in Glasgow’s opening match of the BKT United Rugby Championship season away to Benetton.
It was in round two that the Howe of Fife product truly stamped his authority, however; a virtuoso performance against Cardiff saw Horne walk away with the Player of the Match medal around his neck, having notched up 17 points courtesy of a try and six conversions under the Friday night lights at Scotstoun.
His leadership and work ethic around Scotstoun have also caught the eye of the club’s coaching team, with Horne holding off the challenge of Jack Dempsey to emerge victorious from the supporters’ vote.
How good was this guy tonight 🏅

“I’m honestly delighted,” Horne told glasgowwarriors.org.
“It’s been great to get back out there playing again, and I’ve felt good and fresh at the start of the season. We obviously didn’t get the result we wanted out in Treviso, but it was brilliant to be able to bounce back with the win against Cardiff here at Scotstoun.
“That Cardiff match was so much fun to be involved in. To be back home again after six months – the place was absolutely buzzing, and we as players definitely fed off that. That translated into our performance and you saw what happened – when it clicks, it’s so much fun.
“It’ll be brilliant to get back home again this weekend in front of the Warrior Nation. The support makes a massive difference and we know that they’ll give us that buzz again against the Bulls on Saturday night.”
