Match Preview | Lions (A)
Glasgow Warriors head back to South Africa to take on the Emirates Lions this Saturday 25 February in Johannesburg.
The Emirates Airline Park Stadium is 1800m above sea level and temperatures on Saturday could hit as high as 29 degrees – a significant change to the weather Glasgow have been experiencing for their last few games. The Warriors are determined to extend their unbeaten streak and set a new club record of 11 matches without defeat.
The form of the Lions recently has seen them lose their last three URC games (Munster (A), Connacht (A), Sharks (H)) and they are currently sitting in 14th place in the table.
Glasgow have been building week on week despite the impact of international players missing from the squad. Last week’s win against Ulster saw Glasgow move into fourth place of the table.
The two teams have only played once before, back in 2021. The game was at Scotstoun and Glasgow Warriors came out on top 13-9. This being said, the last five visits to South Africa have not fared well for Glasgow who hope to reset the slate with this visit.
