Match Preview | Edinburgh (A)

Following on from last weekend’s record-breaking game at Hampden, Glasgow Warriors travel to Scottish Gas Murrayfield to once again face Edinburgh.

Glasgow Warriors beat Edinburgh with a strong performance ending 33-14 following two late tries for Edinburgh.

Heading into last weekend’s game, Glasgow were sitting second in the URC and have maintained that spot.  Edinburgh, however, have dropped from seventh into ninth place following the defeat at Hampden Park.

Glasgow are now in a strong position to defend the 1872 Cup once more.  The team have been showing how their away form with wins over Stormers and Cardiff as well as a very close game in France against Toulon.

Edinburgh have had good form at home, having won all home games since their loss to Leinster in the opening round of the URC.

That being said, there is a notable difference between winning at the Hive and winning at Murrayfield.

Discussing previous 1872 Cup fixtures, in the last nine games Glasgow have only lost twice. One of these times was last year at Murrayfield when Edinburgh won by five points, but Glasgow retained the 1872 Cup.

This weekend, in front of record-breaking crowds at Murrayfield, Glasgow Warriors will be looking to once again show their URC winning form.  Edinburgh will be looking to greatly improve on last weekend’s performance and put on a show for home fans. This game is certainly going to be one not to be missed.
