Fraser voted Warrior of the Month for October
Angus Fraser says he is honoured by the support of the Warrior Nation, after earning 48% of the public vote to be named as the McCrea Financial Services Warrior of the Month for October.
The hooker enjoyed a memorable opening to the 2023/24 BKT United Rugby Championship season, featuring in both of Glasgow’s first two fixtures of the new league campaign.
A product of Dundee Eagles RFC, the 23-year-old marked his first start in Glasgow colours in style in the club’s BKT URC opener against Leinster at Scotstoun, crossing for the bonus-point try – his first for the Warriors – in a 43-25 victory over the Irish province.
His efforts in defence away to Connacht then saw the hooker named as KubeNet Defender of the Week after making 16 tackles from 16, whilst only an illegal intervention from Jarrad Butler – resulting in a penalty try – prevented Fraser from making it two tries in two appearances.
A former recipient of the prestigious Macphail Scholarship, Fraser has also represented Scotland at U18 and U20 level.
In addition to receiving the winner’s trophy, he also earns a donation to a charity of his choice courtesy of McCrea Financial Services, with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity the hooker’s chosen beneficiary.
“It’s a big honour for me,” Fraser told glasgowwarriors.org.
“To receive the nomination from the coaches first of all, and then for the Warrior Nation to vote for me – it’s a really humbling feeling.
“The boys have been training really well, and if I can match the level that everyone else is bringing to the table then that puts me in the best position to develop as well as to give my best for this club. I feel like I’ve been building well and it’s been a great start to the season.
“To be able to help Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity with the donation from McCrea Financial Services, too, is massive. We’ve done a lot of work with the charity over the years, and we can see how much every little can help the kids there. It was a no-brainer for me and I’m really happy to be able to help.”
